Janssen DALLAS CITY -Mrs. Mabel M. Janssen, 73, Golden Era Home, died at 3:50 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Burlington (Iowa) Medical Center.

A former Burlington, Iowa, resident, she was born May 5, 1905, at Pleasant Plain, Iowa, the daughter of James and Jennie Shofe Sheckler. She married Ralph Janssen June 6, 1928, in Burlington. She was a housewife and member of First United Church of Christ, Burlington. Surviving: Two daughters, Mrs. Jeanette Schindall, Bettendorf, Iowa, and Mrs.

Delores Harrison, Dallas City; two brothers, Kerman Sheckler, Portland, and James Sheckler, Monmouth; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Sept. 29, Prugh's Chapel, Burlington, Rev. Alvin Volle; Aspen Grove cemetery.

Mrs. Vera James Mrs. Vera May (Milligan) James, 59, of Gladstone, died at 12:30 p.m. Friday at ten Klein Hospital in Burlington. She had spent most of her life in Gladstone and attended schools there.

She was a daughter of Otis and Ferol Milligan and was born Sept. 23, 1919, at Kirkwood. She married Lester (Bill) James Dec. 6, 1937 in Marion County, Missouri. She was a homemaker and of Methodist faith.

Mrs. James is survived by a son, Lee, of Lockport; her mother; three grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Robert (Jean) Diran of Carman, Mrs. James (Barbara) Clinton of Warsaw, Mrs. Clyde (Violet) Testman of Keokuk, Iowa, Mrs.

Ivan (Fern) Brown of Argenta, and Mrs. Robert (Darlene) Garrett of Des died Moines, Iowa; and two brothers, Wilford Milligan and Chester Milligan, both of Keokuk. Her parents, husband, father, one son, one brother and one sister died earlier. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Sederwall Chapel, all Biggsville, in charge of the Rev.

Sandra O'Bert. Burial was in the Oquawka Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. Bertha L. Davis Mrs.

Bertha L. Davis, 68, of 109 West Park, Tremont, died on Sept. 22 in Pekin Memorial Hospital. She had been hospitalized since Monday. She was born at Biggsville Dec.

14, 1909, daughter of Sam and Sadie Beebe. She married Merle Davis at Monmouth on May 3, 1941. Mrs. Davis had resided in Tremont for 80 years and was a member of Tremont United Methodist Church. Services were held Monday, Sept.

25 at Tremont. Interment was in Antioch Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, two sons, Donald Mason of San Diego, and Jerry Davis of Tremont; five grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. George Green of Oquawka, Mrs. Leo Morrissey of Hastings, and Mrs.

Dolly Coan of Detroit, Mich. Two grandchildren and three brothers died earlier. Fredrick Beebe Frederick D. Beebe, 77, of 275 East Carl Sandburg Drive, died at 4 p.m. Sept.

13 in the Galesburg Convalescent Center. He was born Aug. 23, 1901, in Biggsville of Sam and Sadie Beebe. He married Maude Perry on Sept. 20, 1922, in Abingdon.

She died in April 1978. Mr. Beebe was a retired city policeman, serving for 15 years, and was a member of the Illinois Protective Association (IPA) and the Police Benevolent Association. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Bonnie Jean), of Tuscon, grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; four sisters, Mrs.

Doll Coan, of Detroit, Mrs. Leo Morrissey, (Louise), of Hastings, Mrs. Merle Davis (Bertha) of Tremont, and Mrs. George Green (Mildred) of Oquawka. Graveside services were held Friday, Sept.

15, at Memorial Park Cemetery. In addition to his wife, a son, Kenneth died earlier. Mrs. Helen McGinnis DALLAS CITY--Mrs. Helen Rosella McGinnis, 60, Dallas City, died Monday, Sept.

25, at Carthage Memorial hospital. The daughter of Paul and Myrtle Carlson Welborn, she was born April 14, 1918. She was a member of the Free Methodist church. Surviving: Son, Ronald, and two daughters, Marilyn Terrell and Judy Leinbach, all of Dallas City; her mother, Dallas City; sister, Pauline Hedges, Rio Vista; five brothers, George Welborn, Lomax and Carl, Vail, Herbert and Hubert Welborn, all of Dallas City; and ten grandchildren. Funeral: 2 p.m.

Sept. 27, Free Methodist church, Rev. T.J. Wemette; Harris cemetery. A Heart Fund memorial has been established at Banks Beals funeral home.

Mrs. Grace Markey DALLAS CITY- Grace L. Markey, 76, Dallas City, died Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. in Hanco*ck County nursing home, Carthage.

The daughter of Wesley and Edith Heisler Byers, she was born March 9, 1902, in Durham township. She married Paul Noland Markey May 23, 1922; he died Feb. 17, 1971. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church. Surviving: Five sons, Leon, Loxahatcheo, Frank, Burlington, Iowa, and Lester, John and W.A.

(Tony), all of Dallas City; three daughters, Mary Garrison, Franklin, and Kathryn Symmonds and Dorothy Johnson, both of Dallas City; two brothers, Donald Byers, Ferris, and John Byers, Carthage; two sisters, Mildred McBride, Carthage rural, and Dorothy Harris, Galesburg; 48 grandchildren; and 20 greatgrandchildren. Funeral: 10 a.m. last Friday, Sacred Heart church, Fr. Ralph Aldrich; Gittings Mound cemetery, La Harpe. Wake service, 8 p.m.

She was a retired clerk for Kellogg and Drake Co. Born April 2, 1891, i in Warren County, she married Alexis J. Bowling at Galesburg in 1913. Survivors are one son, William Portland, one daughter, Mrs. Phoebe Troland, Holiday, one brother, Emery Anderson of Biggsville; one sister, Mrs.

Lilly German of Galesburg; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church.
