Who knew James Jones would become a usable commodity in Fantasy Football?!

Not the Raiders, nor the Giants.

Both of those teams could have had him before the season started and both passed. Fortunately for Jones, the Packers remembered what he could do and they brought him in. Four games later and he sits as a top-10 Fantasy receiver with 53 points in a standard league, more than Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders ... and one point more than Randall Cobb.

Pretty good numbers for a dude nobody drafted.

Funny thing is, no one's buying Jones as a guy who can keep this up for 16 games. He's 31, he probably runs a 4.65 in the 40-yard dash and is considered to be touchdown-dependent, meaning if he doesn't score he's a dud for your Fantasy team. Never mind the fact he has 98 yards or a touchdown in each of his four games this season. Truth is, he's a receiver who plays pretty much every single down for the Green Bay Packers, and that's all the "talent" he needs.

Is Jones a sell-high candidate based on his hot start, or are smart owners swiping up Jones at a discount because "he's James Jones?" We scoured Twitter for some possible trades involving Jones -- here's a good assortment of who people are considering for him.

James Jones, Dez Bryant and Carlos Hyde for Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown and Davante Adams: You'll see blockbuster trades and you'll see deals involving injured guys, but rarely are the two intertwined like this. Also, the side with the Steelers guys rules the deal, if only because once Roethlisberger comes back, Brown will bounce back too. But isn't it interesting how Jones is thought so highly of that he's a part of a big deal like this?

James Jones and Matt Forte for A.J. Green: PPR league or not, the side giving up Forte is paying up too much for Green, and that's even with Jones involved in the deal. Not sure why anyone would take just Green for Forte and Jones. Why not ask for a running back with Green?

James Jones and Latavius Murray for Jeremy Hill and Emmanuel Sanders: It's close, but in a standard league the Hill/Sanders side is the better side. But again, look at how highly Jones is valued to where he's a key figure in this deal involving three top-40 picks from Draft Day.

James Jones for Carlos Hyde: Hyde has absolutely stunk over his last three games, but I'd still rather have him than Jones in a standard-scoring league. Honestly, it's because Hyde is still a start-worthy running back. Jones is a start-worthy receiver, but it's tough to find running backs you can buy into compared to receivers. Obviously the stats bear out a totally different picture -- Jones in a landslide -- but Hyde's role at a scarce position keeps his value afloat.

James Jones for Devonta Freeman: It's easy to be optimistic about Freeman after his last two games. Maybe the time's right to sell high on Freeman -- but this isn't selling high at all. Getting Freeman for Jones is a no-brainer. James Jones for Dez Bryant: Now this one's interesting. Bryant is reportedly set to return by Week 7, but there's no guarantee he'll be the same player as before suffering his significant foot injury. His quarterback situation definitely won't be the same as when he left and probably won't return to normal until Week 11 at the earliest. Jones, meanwhile, is healthy and playing with a great quarterback. We know what we have with him. It's close to being dead-even, but Jones is more appealing.

What are the Trade Values? The chart is designed to help guide you in making fair trades in your standard-scoring or PPR leagues. The values assigned to the players below are a long-term measurement of their Fantasy value. By adding two players' values you could determine what one player you should be able to get in return. This list should also work as a "Rest of Season" rankings. Also, any player not on the chart should be considered valued at no more than three points.
