Great couple of days at 's ProjectPlay summit. I thought we'd be oddballs as a "non traditional" sport, but found a great community of like minded folks using sports to help kids develop skills for life (although we did get to very frequently use the line that FIRST is still the "only sport where every kid can go pro" 😁 ).Kudos to Tom Farrey, Katherine Quinn and team on a fabulous event.Some highlights in pics - appreciated "sneaker business casual" dress code & reminder that we're all still athletes. FIRST team photo bombing some of the Summit decor at Johns Hopkins. Hearing from youth (just like we do at FIRST). Reminder about the best academic paper I ever wrote, on Camden Yards a century ago when it was first built.#ProjectPlay

A little delayed update, but fun last month to award Mark Rober & CrunchLabs the highest recognition FIRST gives to supporters!Can't imagine a better fit - Mark really is the embodiment of Dean Kamen's vision to make scientists and engineers celebrities who will inspire others to use STEM for good.

I recently celebrated my birthday (thanks for all the kind wishes!) and that got me thinking about FIRST. FIRST is also a Pisces, and is celebrating our 35th birthday on 20 March. Another of my favorite non-profits. I'm a firm believer in the value of service and know lots of great service oriented organizations. But got to see just how special the small but mighty Youth Volunteer Corps is based on my middle daughter's experience (iykyk). One of my favorite recent collaborations at FIRST. And not just cause it raised the 'cool dad' meter for me in my middle school kid's eyes. More genuinely than many companies I've worked with, Mark Rober and the team at CrunchLabs really do have the best interests of the world in mind with what they're doing in their days jobs and with us.
