IAAPA Expo Asia 2024: what not to miss (2024)

IAAPA Expo Asia is the region’s largest expofor leisure and attractions industry professionals. This year, after asuccessful 2023 showin Singapore, it will take place for the first time in Bangkok, Thailand. IAAPA Expo Asia 2024 will be held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok, with the conference running from 27 to 30 May. The 7,800 sqm trade show floor, packed with global manufacturers and suppliers, opens from 28 to 30 May.

Attendees from over 50 countries will again meet to network and share ideas. On the extensive show floor, they can also check out the latest industry developments and innovations.

The theme of IAAPA Expo Asia 2024 is “Shape Your Evolution at IAAPA Expo Asia: Evolve your business into a leading market player.” We look at some of the key education sessions, events, and exhibitors ahead of this year’s event.

EDUSessions and more at IAAPA Expo Asia 2024

Before the conference begins on Monday 27 May, a few ticketed events will take place over the weekend. One is the IAAPA Institute for Attractions Professionals. This is the global attractions industry’s premier professional development program for individuals with five or fewer years of experience working in attractions.

Participants will gain a global attractions perspective and learn more about all areas of operation. They can also share best practices across member types.

Those who arrive early in Bangkok can also enjoy a ticketed EDUTour on Sunday 26 May. The event will take place at the Grande Centre Point Space Pattaya, Nongnooch Garden, and Ramayana Water Park.

On Monday, the agenda of fascinating EDUSessions begins with Building a Winning Team: Unveiling Effective Recruitment, Retention, and Training Strategies in the Attractions Industry. The speakers will be Shaun McKeogh, the Attractions Academy; Sarah Hu, Shanghai Disney Resort; Kate Wholohan, The Entertainment and Education Group/Timezone Group International; and Ken Sakpisit, BEAT Active.

This will be followed by Sustainable Success: Effective Maintenance Planning and Asset Management. Attendees can hear from Rhys Wachter of DRA Safety and Suresh V. Kumaran from Gamuda Land Leisure. IAAPA Expo 2024 opens!

On Tuesday morning, the IAAPA Expo Asia 2024 opening ceremony will celebrate the power of experiences to bring people together and showcase what’s new in the region. It concludes at 10 a.m., after which the show floor will officially open for business.

The day’s EDUSessions start strong with Beyond Expectations: Crafting Unforgettable Guest Services in Theme Parks. In this session, attendees will learn from Shanghai Disney Resort‘s Olivia Kang and Alan Kwok, Hong Kong Disneyland’s Anthony Blitch and Universal Beijing Resort’s Edith Lam.

Other highlights in the morning include a Family Entertainment Centre Roundtable and Best Practices for Opening and Operating a New Water Park. EDUSessions continue in the afternoon, and one not to miss will be Unleashing the Power of Emotional Connections: Introduction to Global IP Partnerships, with speakers Linda Dong, China Leisure Development Co., Natalie Chan, Hasbro; Yuling Wang, Blue Dragon Art; and FanNa Fan, Sesame Workshop.

The company recently announced that it is building its first wood and steel hybrid coaster in China. The firm recently announced a partnership with C360 International on an innovative stadium concept that provides spectators with unparalleled views of all the action.
